Landscape Urbanism
The concept and term of landscape urbanism have been evolving for almost one century, and the term has been claimed as a modern landscape for urban areas. Tome Turner has defined landscape urbanism as an approach to designing cities and their components. It aims to create good places by creatively integrating natural, human and cultural process layers (Tom Turner, 2015).
The landscape architect and author Charles Waldheim has given a detailed historical and conceptual narrative of landscape urbanism in his book, which holds the same name.
The term defined in Wikipedia as Landscape urbanism is a theory of urban design arguing that the city is constructed of interconnected and ecologically rich horizontal field conditions, rather than the arrangement of objects and buildings. Landscape Urbanism, like Infrastructural Urbanism and Ecological Urbanism, emphasizes performance over pure aesthetics and utilizes systems-based thinking and design strategies.
